Wizz Air celebrates 5 million passengers in Timisoara

Wizz Air, the fastest growing and most sustainable airline * in Europe, announces that it has transported 5 million passengers in the last 14 years to and from the “Traian Vuia” International Airport in Timișoara.

To mark the occasion, the 5 millionth passenger, who traveled with a flight from London to Timisoara, was awarded a gift voucher for WIZZ flights.

Since its first flight from Timisoara in 2008, the airline has continuously invested in the network of routes that connect the city with the rest of Europe. Thus, a year later, in 2009, Wizz Air opened its base in Timisoara, allocating 2 aircraft and launching 19 routes to 7 countries in the following years.

By expanding its network and low-cost routes, Wizz Air is proving its commitment in the area, by stimulating the local labor market specific to aviation and related industries, as well as by stimulating economic relations with other European countries.

The airline is committed to expanding its operations across the network as the industry returns to pre-pandemic capacity. With routes that connect the whole of Europe, Romanians will be able to travel through Wizz Air routes at discounted rates to the most interesting destinations, whether it is a sunny holiday, city breaks in famous cities or visiting friends and family.

Wanting to mark this occasion and reward its passengers, the airline has prepared a surprise for the lucky 5 millionth passenger who traveled on the London-Timisoara route. The 5 millionth passenger, Veciunca Petru, was flying from London to Timișoara and received the news on board the aircraft. After landing, Mr Veciunca received a prize consisting of a gift voucher for WIZZ flights and was invited to take part in a photo shoot with crew members and airport representatives.
