Wizz Air closes the Suceava base, but keeps five routes: London, Rome, Milan, Dortmund and Memmingen!

Wizz Air, the world's most environmentally sustainable airline, today announced plans to adjust its network and optimize operations in Romania to increase operational reliability for local customers.

Specifically, the airline is adjusting its network from Suceava and will focus on flights that will be operated further, to better optimize flight times and minimize disruptions and cancellations for customers in Romania.

Wizz Air closes its base in Suceava

As of October 28, 2023, the airline will close its Suceava base, continuing to operate flights on five current routes from Suceava to London Luton, Rome, Milan Malpensa, Dortmund and Memmingen

Flights to Larnaca, Eindhoven, Brussels Charleroi, Paris Beauvais and Bologna will continue to be served, but from the base in Iasi, which will increase with the addition of a fifth aircraft this winter. In addition, Wizz Air will announce new services for the network in Romania in the coming weeks.

All affected employees from the Suceava base will be offered work opportunities elsewhere in the Wizz Air network.

Wizz Air maintains its commitment to long-term growth in the Romanian market, creating hundreds of additional jobs both within the company and in associated industries, stimulating the rapid growth of the tourism and hospitality sectors in Romania. The airline operates over 5.000 flights per month to 24 countries from six bases in Romania: Bucureşti, Cluj, Timisoara, Iaşi, Craiova and Sibiu.

The first Wizz Air flight took off from Suceava on August 3, 2016, and since then, the company has transported more than 2 million passengers on its low-cost routes to and from Suceava. Wizz Air will continue to be the largest airline operating to Suceava.

Customers who booked directly through wizzair.com or through the company's mobile app and who are affected by the changes will be notified by email and can opt for free rescheduling, a refund of 120% of the original rate in the form of company credit, or a refund of 100% of the money paid .
