Every year, on July 20, Romanian aviators (military and civilian) and those involved in aviation celebrate their spiritual patron and protector - Saint Elijah. This year, to celebrate the Day of Romanian Aviation and Air Force, I participated in the parade at the Monument of Air Heroes (Statue of Aviators).
The ceremony began with a moment of recollection in memory of the 298 people who died in the tragic plane crash, which took place on 17 July 2014. Continue with a short parade to the ground and end with the air parade. Missing were the Lockheed C-130 Hercules and C-27J Spartan aircraft, the 21 Lancer MIG fighter aircraft, the IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopter, etc.
The aviation show ended with the evolution of the national acrobatics team - Hawks Of Romania, within the Romanian Aeroclub.
The Hero of the Air monument, dedicated to the memory of the Romanian military and civil aviators who contributed to the development of aviation, is located in the center of the Aviator Market and was built between the years 1928-1935 by Lidia Kotzebue and Iosif Fekete.
