On 28 June 2014, at a ceremony held in Everett, Washington, Boeing celebrated the 1500 747 aircraft delivered. The aircraft arrived in the Lufthansa fleet and is the 747-8i, the 14 aircraft of this type in the German carrier fleet. The Boeing 747-830 aircraft has the D-ABYP (MSN 37839) designation, and has an anniversary logo on the fuselage.

The first flight operated by a Boeing 747 aircraft was recorded on 9 February 1969. It was introduced to the operational service along with Pan American World Airways, on 22 January 1970.
