Condor will continue to fly / German Government will lend Condor with 380 million EURO

After 178 years of uninterrupted tourism activities, Thomas Cook UK has ceased its activity. Now the situation needs to be clarified as to what will happen to all the subsidiaries and companies of the Thomas Cook Group.

In the first phase, all the Thomas Cook Group companies in the United Kingdom ceased their activities. This means that the network of travel agents Thomas Cook, Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Airtours has been affected.

As we mentioned in other articles, the Thomas Cook bankruptcy has affected over 600 000 tourists. Most are from the UK. No less than 150 000, which will be repatriated through The Matterhorn operation.

Condor will continue to fly

But what will happen to the other Thomas Cook subsidiaries in other countries? It's hard to say now. But Condor and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia, two airlines of the Thomas Cook Group, will continue to fly.

Condor is an airline that specializes in charter flights. It is from Germany and is based in Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Hannover, Dusseldorf. It has a fleet of 42 planes and flights to 90 from vacation destinations in Europe, Asia, North America, Central and South America.

Previously, Condor requested financial support from the German state. According to a press release issued by Condor, the German government has approved a loan worth 380 million EURO over a period of 6 months. The money is needed to help the Condor survive the cold season. But for the moment the money cannot be transferred until the European Commission in Brussels gives its consent (and it is not known when this agreement will come).

Condor will seek protection from Thomas Cook Group

It is certain that, for now, Condor aircraft continue to fly according to the schedule. Those who want to buy tickets can do so directly from company website or from the Condor counters at German airports. We also recommend that you buy insurance if Condor ceases operations.

And in the future, Condor Flugdienst GmbH plans to file a lawsuit against the Thomas Cook Group. In other words, Condor wants to get out of the Thomas Cook Group and become an independent airline.
