The German authorities have decided to extend the existing entry restrictions for coronavirus until the end of May, after assessing the current situation of COVID-19, which does not allow the complete elimination of travel rules. The decision was announced via the German portal deutschland.de. The restrictions were due to end on Thursday, April 28th.

"In order to protect against the spread of Coronavirus, the entry regulations will remain in force for the time being for those returning from holiday and for travel to Germany.", It is said in an update published by the portal.

Passengers entering Germany on the basis of a COVID vaccine certificate must ensure that they have been vaccinated within the last 180 days with the last injection or that they have received a booster, otherwise their vaccination will be considered invalid. At the same time, the only vaccines accepted as valid proof of vaccination for entry are those approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and those adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO).

On the other hand, recovery certificates are only accepted if the passenger has been infected with COVID-19 in the last 90 days before the trip to Germany.

Those who have not been vaccinated or previously infected with COVID-19 will be required to test negative for Coronavirus, either PCR or antigen, taken within 48 hours of arrival in Germany.

"The regulation also provides for quarantine obligations for those returning from so-called high-risk or infected areas. At present, however, no country is classified as such by the Federal Government", It is said in the update.

In conclusion, if you want to travel to Germany, you need a COVID-19 digital certificate, obtained after vaccination, cure or testing.
