KLM will suspend its 270 weekly long-haul flights to the Netherlands from January 22 due to new travel restrictions, the airline spokesman said.

The Dutch national company announced the suspension, from January 22, 2021, of the 270 weekly long-haul flights operated to the Netherlands, due to the new travel restrictions. They require - passengers, but also flight crews - to present a second negative result obtained after performing a quick test just before departure, in order to enter the Netherlands.

Passengers are also required to submit a negative PCR test, which must be performed no later than 72 hours before the flight. Furthermore, travelers must self-quarantine for 10 days upon arrival in the Netherlands. After five days they can be tested. If the result of this PCR test is negative, they can come out of self-isolation.

Cancellations will also apply to European flights.

The Netherlands "imitated" the restrictions imposed by the United Kingdom and banned entry into the country for flights arriving from South Africa, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela (eight of which are served by KLM), The Netherlands Antilles, but also from Great Britain.
