Malta will open the tourist season on June 1. Those vaccinated will be able to travel without restrictions.

Vaccination programs in each European country give high hope to the tourism sector. More and more countries are announcing their intention to reopen the borders for tourists, especially for those vaccinated, naturally immunized by infection with the new coronavirus or for those testing for anti-COVID.

Malta, with 40% of the population vaccinated with the first dose, announces that it wants to relaunch international tourism starting with June 1. However, depending on the country of origin, travelers will be able to enter Malta on the basis of the vaccination certificate, a negative result following the COVID-19 PCR test or if they present an immunization certificate. Those who will travel from "green" countries will not be conditioned, being able to travel freely.

Malta will apply the "traffic light" system to classify countries (red, yellow and green). In the European Union and in countries with which Malta has a bilateral health agreement, fully vaccinated people (10 days after the booster) can travel freely, provided they present proof of vaccination. Non-EU travelers must comply with the conditions set by the EU (Schengen).

The Malta Tourism Authority will launch a new promotional campaign Feel Free Again, aiming to attract tourists. They can take advantage of the freedom to travel to Malta when the time is right.

If they are travelers from the yellow zone and have not yet been vaccinated, but want to travel to Malta, they must test negative for a COVID-19 PCR test. It should be noted that this must be done no later than 72 hours before the time of entry into Malta. Obviously, those who want to travel in the green area no longer have to present anything. They will be able to travel freely.

The Malta Tourism Authority recalls that they have been implemented COVID protocols. Restaurants, accommodation units and service providers meet the highest standards of cleanliness and health safety.
