In the context of the latest security developments in the vicinity of Ukraine and the Black Sea region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reports that the alert level for Ukraine has been raised.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommends avoiding travel to the Crimean Peninsula and eastern Ukraine, the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as the Ukrainian border area with the Russian Federation and Belarus, recalling that the security situation remains tense and fluid.

The MFA states that, as previously informed by the public, all measures have been taken regarding the voluntary repatriation of family members of the diplomatic and consular staff within the Romanian diplomatic and consular missions in Ukraine, their repatriation process being at this time. completed regarding the Romanian Embassy in Kiev and the Romanian Consulate General in Odessa. At the same time, the MFA decided to withdraw non-essential diplomatic and consular staff from the diplomatic mission and some of the consular offices in Ukraine.

According to the current alert level, the text of which is presented below and at the link indicated, the MFA strongly recommends to Romanian citizens to avoid any travel to Ukraine and to pay special attention. At the same time, the MFA recommends to the Romanian citizens located on the territory of Ukraine to re-evaluate the need to remain on the territory of this state.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also strongly recommends avoiding travel to the Crimean Peninsula and the eastern part of Ukraine, respectively in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as in the border area of ​​Ukraine with the Russian Federation and Belarus, recalling that the security situation remains tense and fluid. .

The MFA also advises Romanian citizens, including media representatives, to be vigilant, to avoid large crowds, to be constantly informed by reliable sources and to adjust their travel plans promptly, depending on the security situation in the country. area. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also recommends that Romanian citizens in Ukraine pay close attention and comply with the regulations established by the Ukrainian authorities.
