Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa, will open the route Addis Ababa-Seoul, starting with 18 June 2013. It will be the 73 international destination for the airline in Ethiopia. This route is part of the Ethiopian Vision 2025 program, a project through which Ethiopian Airlines wants to link Africa to the largest economic hubs.

Seoul is the fourth largest economic metropolis in the world after Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles. It is home to four UNESCO monuments: Changdeok Palace, Hwaseong Fortress, Tongmyo Shrine and Royal Tombs of Joseon Dynasty. But there are also many modern tourist attractions.

Regarding the operational program of the route, we still do not have information. The route will likely be honored with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the newest long-haul aircraft in the Ethiopian Airlines fleet. It seems that this route will mark 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and South Korea.
