Airbus, one of the largest manufacturers of commercial and military aircraft, opens the first assembly line in the United States. It is dedicated to the assembly and delivery of Airbus A320 family aircraft. It is located in the Brookley Aeroplex area in Mobile, Alabama and is part of the European manufacturer's development strategy. Will provide over 1000 jobs.
The Alabama factory will produce the A319, A320 and A321 models. The assembly line will be built beginning in the summer of 2013, production is scheduled to begin in 2015, and the first deliveries will be honored from 2016. Airbus expects to have production of up to 50 units per year up to 2018.
Airbus is a major manufacturer of military and civilian aircraft, with capacities from 100 to over 500 seats. It has sold over 11500 units to over 470 operators and customers worldwide.
