Alma Health & Spa Retreat, Lacul Sărat, Brăila: the newest wellness resort in Romania with an investment of 20 million EURO!

Businessman Vasile Dogărescu, owner of the Eldomir fuel station chain, as well as other agricultural businesses developed under the same brand, inaugurated Alma Health & Spa Retreat in early June. It is a 185-room premium resort with a state-of-the-art event center and health center with private beach and swimming pools. It is located in Lacu Sărat resort in Brăila county.

The total investment was 20 million euros, and the construction lasted 3 and a half years. The resort currently has about 100 Romanian employees, most of them from Braila or neighboring counties.

The new project is aimed at people concerned with wellness & wellbeing, improving health, but also those who travel for business, or participate in events.

Lacu Sărat is a small resort located a few kilometers from the city of Brăila, frequented by all the great personalities of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. After the Revolution, the resort entered a shadow cone and followed a process of progressive degradation. Despite the medical properties of the sapropelic mud available here, the resort has disappeared in recent years from the forefront of Romanian tourism. In the past, Lacu Sărat was often compared to the Dead Sea due to its healing qualities.  

From this summer, however, Alma Health & Spa Retreat brings medical tourism back to the map in Lacu Sărat resort, at the highest quality standards. The whole concept of the resort includes several points of interest, including the hotel itself and the accommodation, the area of ​​treatments and medical recovery, the conference and event area, the 6 restaurants and the beach with access to Lacu Sărat.

In terms of accommodation and services, the resort has 185 rooms, 6 restaurants with different specifics, from traditional Romanian food, to fish food specific to the area, international food, but also a self-service area for guests. The resort also has 3 bars, two on the beach and one inside the hotel. The capacity for events is up to 1000 people.

The price of one night accommodation starts from 575 lei / night double room with breakfast included and access to the private beach, children's playground and wellness facilities.

Treatment center and wellness is spread over an area of ​​2500 square meters

The key element of Alma Health & Spa Retreat is the 2500 square meter treatment center with 60 individual treatment rooms, saltwater pool and physical therapy rooms.

The treatment area is completed by the wellness area which includes the indoor freshwater pool, jacuzzi, salt mines, saunas, hammam, Vichy shower and therapy and massage rooms.

The first beach at western standards in Lacu Sărat resort

Alma Health & Spa Retreat also includes a private beach with 1000 sun loungers, as well as an aquapark with 5 water slides, 3 swimming pools, one with salt water from Salt Lake, one with fresh water and one for children up to 3 years. It is the first beach with access to Salt Lake, renovated and designed to western standards.

Salt Lake has one of the most mineralized sapropelic muds in the country, the treatment with this mud, also called black elixir, is ideal in ameliorating a long list of diseases such as rheumatological, dermatological, inflammatory, gynecological, endocrine, respiratory diseases and of the central nervous system, post-traumatic stress, stress, overwork, sedentary lifestyle and diet.

The largest event and conference center in southeastern Romania

The resort's services are complemented by an event and conference center with a capacity of up to 1000 participants, 3 conference rooms, a ballroom, as well as restaurants with generous spaces, natural light and access to terraces.

The Alma Event Center is distinguished by state-of-the-art technology and quality equipment, so the four halls and restaurants can host all kinds of private and corporate events, cultural events and exhibitions. The most important investment went to the Alma Grand Ballroom, the largest hall with a capacity of 400 guests, atrium, built-in stage, scaffolding and video wall.
