After 2 days of scandal, Blue Air sent a statement with answers to questions from the media and many of those affected by the canceled flights. Below you will find the Blue Air answers!

The seizure has been lifted and flights will resume. We benefited from the support of the AFM, especially that of President Dobre.

An airline shut down and everything shut down, and Blue Air's credibility was severely shaken. At these times we do a careful assessment to understand what our operating capacity is. In the course of tomorrow we will return with an official statement in which we will announce exactly which flights we will resume. Whether with the support of TAROM or other operators, we try to bring home passengers stuck in foreign airports.

How do you plan to handle the situation of passengers whose flights have been cancelled?

pASSENGERS Blue Air affected by the cancellations, we offered them the options provided by the legislation in force, applicable to all air operators at European level (reimbursement of travel tickets, rerouting on the next available flight published on the website or reimbursement in the electronic wallet that can be used for future ticket purchases).

Absolutely all matters related to the reimbursement of passengers are essentially dependent on the resumption of activity, so that the company can achieve the necessary revenues both to operate current flights and to reimburse the amounts owed to passengers.

What happened to the fine received from ANPC? And with those bribery charges. What actually happened then?

As we stated in the only official communication issued on this topic, since July 14, 2022, we understand to protect the interests and the image Blue Air exclusively by using the methods allowed by the legislation in force.

Thus, both the Complaint filed in the matter of administrative litigation, by which we request the annulment of the Record of Infringement issued by the ANPC, the Criminal Complaint filed against the civil servants within the ANPC who drew up the record of contravention, were submitted to the competent courts and prosecutor's offices, in unlawful manner, in our opinion, for the offense of abuse of office, offense provided for by art. 297, paragraph 1 Criminal Code, as well as the Criminal Complaint against the ANPC President, for communication of false data in the public space, crime provided by art. 404, Criminal Code.

If we are requested, we can provide you with the Complaints mentioned above, as well as the proof of their submission to the competent courts and prosecutor's offices. We will not make any further comment on these matters until such time as the competent courts have definitively ruled on the respective Complaints.

How much debt does Blue Air have? How do you plan to handle them?

The debts Blue Air at the moment they are approximately EUR 230.000.000 which means, in a normal year of operation, approximately 50% of the total revenues achieved. As we have shown in

year 2019 (year in which Blue Air had revenues of approximately EUR 415.000.000) the company has the necessary know-how and personnel to achieve sufficient revenues to pay off all its debts as long as it is allowed to operate under normal market conditions.

What happens to the employees, the aircraft?

In February 2020, Blue Air had 1.570 employees, and the company's shareholders and management did everything in their power to keep this staff, considering the high degree of training and professionalism of the majority of employees within the company, as well as the fact that the Romanian State invested very much in their training, especially in the training of pilots and aviation technicians.

Unfortunately, during the 2,5 years in which we had to go through the biggest trials that hit the aeronautical industry worldwide, in its entire history, the uncertainties related to the activity Blue Air have led to numerous departures from its scope so that, at the moment, we still have a number of 560 employees.

Regarding aircraft, from a number of 32 aircraft in 2019, we are currently operating with 13 aircraft, and in the coming months we will be forced to stay with 5 aircraft because the rest will have to be returned to their owners.

What is the accumulated debt of Blue Air to the Ministry of the Environment?

What debt payment solutions do you have? How long do you want to repay the debt and in what installments?

The Blue Air fleet consists of 13 aircraft (in operation), currently (average seats 174), during the winter they will be reduced to 5 aircraft, each with a capacity of 189 seats.

How many flights were scheduled for September 6-11 and with what total number of passengers?

Between September 6 and 11, 2022, 401 flights were planned and canceled and 54.161 passengers were affected by the cancellations.

Where are the aircraft located during the flight cancellation period?

Blue Air aircraft are located in Bucharest Otopeni airports - 8 aircraft, Bacău - 2 aircraft, Iași - 1 aircraft, Cluj Napoca - 1 aircraft, Turin - 2 aircraft.

Why is Blue Air currently selling tickets for canceled days as well? 

We do not sell travel tickets for canceled flights (check source www.flyblueair.com or mobile app).

Completion: We make available to any media institution interested in the situation of all payments made from the amount received with the credit title from EXIMBANK ROMANIA in the month of October 2020, specifying that all these payments have been verified by 3 different controls carried out by the Ministry of Finance and ANAF.
