British Airways operated the first flight on the route London Gatwick - Tampa (Florida - USA), from November 15, 2021 (Video)

With the reopening of US borders for the British, British Airways operated the first transatlantic flight from London Gatwick to Tampa, Florida. The inaugural flight was operated with the Boeing 777-200ER G-VIIP aircraft. The new route will be honored with three weekly flights.

British Airways will also resume flights from London Gatwick to the popular holiday city of Orlando on 19 November. This is the first time the airline has operated flights from London Gatwick to these destinations in the US, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, in March 2020.

British Airways plans to operate flights to 23 US airports this winter more than any other transatlantic carrier. Up to 246 flights a week will be operated from January 2022. In addition to Tampa and Orlando in Gatwick, flights to the much-loved cities of Nashville and New Orleans will resume at Heathrow in December.

British Airways plans to reactivate its Airbus A380 fleet and fly to Miami (Dec. 5); Los Angeles (December 9) and Dallas (March 27).

British Airways' first flight to the United States, operated with the lifting of the restrictions on November 8, was BA001 on the London Heathrow - New York route, after 600 days of restrictions. British Airways currently operates seven flights a day to New York, with eight daily flights scheduled for mid-December.
