US athletes took off for Beijing on Thursday morning aboard a Delta Air Lines plane. The Delta charter flight took off from Los Angeles to transport U.S. representatives to Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. This is Delta's first charter flight, exclusively for the United States team. Until now, the athletes of the USA team traveled individually, depending on their schedule.
Delta is taking full advantage of this unique opportunity to offer a unique experience to athletes who will represent the United States at the Winter Olympics. The charter flight is honored with the Airbus A350-900 (N505DN) aircraft. The A350-900 has 32 Delta One Suites, 48 Delta Premium Select seats, 36 Comfort + seats and 190 seats in the main cabin.
Delta is the official airline of the US teams, including the Paralympic team that will be transported in February to the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games, which will start on March 4.
Thus, Delta is fulfilling its commitment made in 2021 for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games as the inaugural founding partner of LA28, thus becoming the official carrier of the US team for the next eight years.
