The first flight between Israel and Australia

Flight LY88 repatriated 230 Israelis before the country closed its borders. We are in full pandemic with the new COVID-19, and governments have taken extreme measures to limit the spread of the virus.

Even if the flight was operated only once, we can say that it was a commercial flight. The tickets were sold in just 15 minutes, according to reports in the Israeli press.

EL AL has long wanted to enter the Australian market and even planned to launch Tel Aviv - Melbourne. However, before officially entering the route, EL AL planned to operate a few test flights. Here is a first successful operation.
