Update: It's official! From June 7, 2024, Romanians will be able to travel to the United States, on the Bucharest - New York route.

Regular flights connecting Henri Coandă airport with New York's main airport, John F. Kennedy, will be operated four times a week, departing from Romania every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and returning.

Bucharest – New York from 349 euros

The HiSky aircraft will take off from Bucharest at 8:00 local time and will land in New York at 11:25 local time. Thus, passengers who want to reach the ocean will spend just over 10 hours in flight. For return flights, the aircraft is scheduled to depart JFK airport at 13:25 local time to arrive in Otopeni at 6:15 local time.

Tickets are available for two classes of services, and the price of a trip starts from 349 euros, for economy class and 1899 euros, for business class. A catering service will also be available on board the aircraft, with a hot meal and a snack included in the ticket price for each passenger.

Initial news: The other day, the Transport Department of The USA granted HiSky the Foreign Operator's Permit of Air Transport, after successfully completing all verification and authorization stages.

Thus, HiSky becomes the only Romanian airline that has the right to operate regular passenger flights from Europe to any destination in the United States of America. After obtaining the authorization, HiSky is preparing to launch the first direct overseas flights, departing from Romania, after more than 20 years.

Taking into account the aircraft selected for long-haul flights – A330-200 – we will most likely be able to fly from Bucharest to New York, non-stop, which was also confirmed by ProTV. From 2024, it will be possible to fly from Romania (Bucharest) to the United States (New York) in approximately 11 hours. There are expected to be up to four weekly flights.

The first Airbus A330-200 (YR-KID) aircraft landed in Bucharest. To begin with, the HiSky company will fly charter routes to holiday destinations like Krabi (Thailand).
