FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and the world's largest cargo carrier, today announced the reception of the first ATR 72-600F. This is the first regional turboprop carrier ever built.

Delivery comes after FedEx signed a firm order for 2017 aircraft in 30, with the option to purchase another 20. The aircraft will arrive at Shannon Airport and will be operated by ASL Airlines Ireland.

This global and regional fleet allows the company to provide fast and economical services for small and medium-sized businesses around the world.

What are the features of the ATR 72-600F aircraft?

There are currently about 130 ATR cargo planes in operation, representing a third of the global regional cargo fleet. The new ATR 72-600F incorporates the latest technologies and gives FedEx the flexibility to operate regionally. With the changing consumer market and the growth of e-commerce, ATR aircraft are making a substantial contribution to the development of communities and regional economies.

FedEx Express operations can now benefit from the unique advantages offered by the 75m3 transport capacity of the ATR 72-600F aircraft.

The large door at the hold of the aircraft facilitates the optimal loading of 9 tons of payload and offers the option to transport either bulk cargo or in Unit Load Device (ULD) mode, 5 pallets of 88 "x 108" or up to 7 LD3 containers.
