Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe and the most environmentally sustainable globally, today announces the opening of a new route from Iasi to Istanbul.

Thus, passengers flying from Iasi Airport will have the opportunity to visit Istanbul, Turkey's largest city, which connects Europe with Asia, also known as the cultural and financial center of the country. The most famous attractions are the Hagia Sophia mosque, Topkapî Palace, the residence of the Ottoman Sultans, the Sultan Ahmed mosque, famous for its blue ceramic decorations, as well as the Grand Bazaar, the largest covered bazaar.

Thus, starting on April 4, 2023, the new direct route IAŞI - ISTANBUL will be operated with a frequency of three flights per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Tickets can now be bought online, on wizzair.com and through the mobile app, at prices starting from 119 RON.

For his part, Costel Alexe, the President of the Iași County Council, said: "The development of the International Airport means the development of Iași county and an entire region, and I want to tell you that during all this time we have managed to develop effective and reliable relations with partners and representatives of airline companies, so that at this moment we have more and more as many direct flights from Iasi to Dublin, Brussels, Madrid, Paris, Milan, but also to new destinations, such as Dortmund, Memmingen (Germany), Basel-Mulhouse (Switzerland) and Copenhagen (Denmark).

Our partners at Wizz Air announced today the opening of new gates. We will have a direct flight to ISTANBUL from the spring of this year. Many people from Iași wrote to us, we received many requests to introduce this flight, and here we are. Turkey will be just one flight away from Iasi."
