"Putin Force One", a modernized and heavily modified Ilyushin Il-96-300, to become one of the presidential aircraft of the Russian Federation, made its first test flight on April 9, 2021. The aircraft will be delivered to Rossiya Airlines.

The test flight, which lasted about two hours, was considered successful. According to its manufacturer, the aircraft's avionics have been upgraded to meet European and international standards. The Ilyushin Il-96 was designed in the mid-80s and first flew in 1988. Since 1996, a modified version called the Il-96-300PU has been the main transport aircraft for the President of the Russian Federation. The aircraft will be delivered to Rossiya Airlines, whose "Special Flight Detachment" is responsible for operating the VIP fleet in Russia, which carries state officials, including President Putin.
