The route will be inaugurated on 27 October 2017, under government approval. At launch, this will be the longest non-stop route. United Airlines has chosen Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to operate the longest daily flights.

The flight UA37 will last approximately 17 hours and 55 minutes. The return flight UA38 will last 15 hours and 15 minutes.
United Vice President Patrick Quayle said: "It will be the longest travel from the United States to any other destination in the world. It's really something remarkable. "
Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will have a total of 252 seats: 48 seats in Business Class, 204 seats in Economy Class, including 88 Economy Plus. There will probably be some restrictions on the weight of the aircraft (less cargo or certain places will remain free).

From Los Angeles, the US company operates non-stop services daily to four Asia-Pacific destinations, including Melbourne (MEL), Tokyo / Narita (NRT), Shanghai (PVG) and Sydney (SYD).
