New travel conditions in Egypt: with COVID-19 test from 15 August 2020.
UPDATE 12 August 2020: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Egyptian authorities have announced new measures on the conditions for entry into the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt, which will enter into force on 15 August 2020.
Thus, according to the information publicly communicated by the Egyptian authorities, foreign nationals traveling to the Arab Republic of Egyptincluding Romanian citizens, must present at the border crossing points, a negative molecular test (PCR type) for SARS-CoV-2 infection, made no more than 72 hours before the trip. The measure does not apply to persons arriving by direct flights at the airports of Sharm El Sheikh, Taba, Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Marsa Matrouh..
At the same time, according to the new measures, persons wishing to travel to / from the South Sinai Governorate to / from other localities in the Arab Republic of Egypt must present a negative molecular test (PCR type) for SARS infection. CoV-2, under the conditions mentioned above.
Initial news: On 20 July 2020, the Egyptian Parliament approved the Presidential Decree extending the state of emergency for a period of three months. It entered into force on 27 July 2020. But this does not influence too much the travels between Romania and Egypt. According to the information issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romanian tourists will not enter isolation and will not be tested by COVID-19.
No COVID-19 test if flying directly into the resort
In the tourist resorts only charter planes can land (of countries that allow travel to Egypt), strictly with tourists. Upon arrival at airports in Egypt special verification measures will be taken of passenger temperature fără to request PCR testing.
No visa for those traveling directly to Egyptian resorts

Romanian citizens, arriving directly at Cairo airport, they need entry visa. It is obtained from the Embassy of Egypt in Bucharest or directly from the airport border authorities.
It is forbidden to leave the tourist resorts
Throughout the stay it is forbidden to leave the tourist resort for making visits to various tourist attractions in Egypt.
Other measures imposed by Egypt
For people who travel directly to Cairo and then want to visit the resorts of Marsa Matrouh, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, a COVID-19 test must be performed for a fee. It will only take place at Ain Shams University Hospital in Cairo. This situation is only possible after a 7-day isolation period at home / hotel.
It should also be mentioned that, upon arrival in Egypt, all Romanian citizens who carry out OTHER ACTIVITIES than the tourist ones will go into isolation for 7 days. And upon returning to Romania, it is no longer necessary to isolate at home for a period of 14 days.
