Tulcea County Council will hold on Wednesday, April 24, the reception conference for the works at the "Danube Delta" Tulcea International Airport, at the end of a two-year development project. The objective of the works was to bring the infrastructure up to the operational and security standards required by the European rules for the operation of flights, but also by the new regulations imposed on Romanian airports, after the entry of our country into the Schengen Area.

At the conference presenting the results of the investment, together with the management of the County Council and the airport, government officials from the national and local level, delegates of the Romanian Airports Association and ROMATSA, representatives of air operators and tourism entrepreneurs will be present. They will outline the plans and prospects for operating direct flights, as well as the expected impact on the local economy.

The culminating point of the event will be a spectacular air show where the Aeroclub of Romania will perform, through the Hawks of Romania, from 16:00.

As a result of the construction of the new terminal, the passenger processing capacity at Tulcea Airport has increased from 50 persons/hour, as it operated in recent years, to 400 persons/hour, through the construction of a new terminal. Thus, the airport meets, at this moment, the standards required by the airlines, for the operation of regular and charter flights, and opens new opportunities both for increasing the number of foreign tourists in the county and for direct trips to destinations abroad , for Tulceni.

Along with the construction of the new terminal, the investment also targeted the modernization of the boarding-disembarkation platform, the taxiway and the construction of a platform dedicated to aircraft de-icing activities.

This large airport infrastructure expansion project, initiated and carried out by the County Council, complements previous investments, necessary to bring the airport to an optimal level of operation. After, for more than 40 years, the facility that ensures the connection of the county by air was excluded from the list of priorities of local administrations, in recent years, the "Danube Delta" Airport has also benefited from the modernization of movement surfaces, the extension of the runway and the boarding platform, but also the provision of security and control systems, equipment and machinery for safe maintenance and operation.

With the commissioning of the new passenger terminal, the Tulcea airport finally becomes attractive for airlines and completes the integrated plan, developed by the County Council, for the efficient connection of the county by air, sea and road.
