Saber Corporation, a leading travel software and technology company, has announced the termination of its distribution agreement with Russian carrier Aeroflot. The decision was made on March 3, 2022, following sanctions imposed on Russia over the invasion of Ukraine.

Saber, one of the largest GDS systems, has eliminated Aeroflot, blocking its access to a system used by travel agencies and corporations to make airline ticket reservations.

With the elimination of Aeroflot, Russia's largest carrier, travel agencies and corporations around the world will no longer be able to make reservations or purchase Aeroflot flights.

"It simply came to our notice then. We comply and we will continue to respect the sanctions imposed on Russia. In addition, we have announced that Saber has terminated its distribution agreement with Aeroflot, removing its content from our GDS. ” Saber CEO Sean Menke said.

He also said: "Saber has been monitoring the situation in Ukraine with growing concern. From the beginning, our main goal was the safety of our team members in the affected area. ”

Following the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the company also said that additional measures could be implemented in the future, if necessary.
