We should not be surprised that the COVID-19 pandemic will continue. Many European countries are already facing wave 5 of the pandemic, mainly due to OMICRON. The trend is clear and, inevitably, the 5th wave of the pandemic will come to Romania as well.

Let's not forget that the authorities relaxed the local restrictions a lot, but imposed new rules of travel at the border. This will lead to the onset of wave 5 because many will travel to Romania, participate in Christmas and New Year parties, people will go to churches and many other crowded public places.

What Rafila said is just a confirmation of the natural evolution of things regarding the pandemic. The 5th wave of the pandemic will reach Romania in no more than 3 weeks, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said on Tuesday, at the end of the meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, saying that he received a signal from this that Romania must be really ready to deal. In his turn, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, said that wave 5 will last at least 2 months.

The statements made by Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca

  • "The essence of the discussions I had with Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, focused on the elements related to the Covid crisis. There is a major concern about how each Member State and the Union as a whole is able to manage the COVID pandemic.
  • We also discussed the impact that the new wave of the Omicron variant is already having on a number of European countries, receiving a signal that we need to be really prepared for what the impact will have on our country as well, discussing a time interval, probably not more than 3 weeks in which he will be in the area of our country.
  • As such, the main topic of discussion was how we are prepared to manage the 5th wave and of course there were discussions about how the vaccination campaign is going and the need for government and specialized institutions, and here I insist - the specialized institutions of the Ministry of Health - to be able to have a communication and to be able to convince from a professional point of view the need for the population to be vaccinated, being practically the only tool by which as we could deduce from what it happened, it doesn't protect us from getting infected, instead it protects us from going through the disease more easily and not having as many cases as we had during the 4th wave when tens of thousands of Romanians lost their lives ", Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said on Tuesday at the end of his visit to Brussels.

The statement made by the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila

  • "I believe that wave 5 will last more than a month and a half, at least 2 months, seeing how things look in other states. I think the months of maximum risk will be February and March ", said Rafila in Parliament, quoted by hotnews, in the context in which he spoke about the need for the certificate at work to be adopted as soon as possible, in order to be able to apply it.

In conclusion, plan your trips carefully and pay attention to all the travel rules imposed by the destination country. Each country has its own rules and are not reciprocal with the countries of departure. The rules for entering Romania differ from the rules imposed by Italy.
