In the middle of this year, the TAROM company presented the balance sheet and announced that it had recorded the highest degree of loading in the last decade. With a LF of 86%, i.e. 86% of available places occupied, TAROM registered a 10% increase compared to the pre-pandemic period and even from the last 15 years, according to official data analyzed by Profit.ro.

For the first time, TAROM achieved both operational profit on certain routes and general profitability "unprecedented in the last 15 years".

The company is currently in full restructuring and reorganization, following a plan of cost reduction measures, staff evaluation and resizing, fleet optimization and route network restructuring.

Despite a gross loss of the company estimated for this year at 62,4 million lei, according to the restructuring plan, updated and sent to the European Commission, the governors promise that TAROM will turn a profit next year. The last year the airline made a profit was 2007.

The aircraft load factor is mostly due to the return of the air transport market, as it happened last year. "At this moment, the market quickly entered a recovery trend, which allowed the TAROM company to maximize its revitalization efforts. At this moment, the TAROM company has the highest load factor of the last decade, with 86% of the available seats full, slightly above the European average and 10% above the load factor recorded in the pre-pandemic period", the cited document reveals.

The company has been able to obtain increased flight frequencies to certain destinations that its own commercial studies show to be profitable. "Moreover, we managed, for the first time in a very long time, to achieve operating profit on routes that were not profitable in the past, on the contrary, they were causing losses to our company", the document states.
