TAROM will transport Romanian athletes to the Olympic Games in Paris with the aircraft "Nadia Comăneci"!

TAROM will carry the Romanian athletes to the Olympic Games in Paris with an aircraft named after Nadia Comăneca.

The TAROM company signed, on Thursday, the agreement to use the name of Nadia Comăneci for the naming of a B737-800 aircraft in the airline's fleet. Thus, the aircraft will bear the name of the great Romanian gymnast, holder of five gold medals at the Olympic Games, in 1976 and 1980, and of the record for the first grade of 10 in the history of gymnastics, in Montreal, in 1976.

"I am happy to be part of this project through which I can be with our athletes and the Romanians. I wish success to the Romanian delegation at the Olympic Games. History continues to be written!", said Nadia Comăneci.

"TAROM is a historical partner of the Romanian athletes who represented and represent our country at the Olympic Games. The fact that the Romanian athletes, participants in the Olympics, will fly to Paris on board the aircraft named after Nadia Comăneci, who wrote history in Montreal in 1976 and became the most decorated Romanian athlete of all time, is a symbol of the partnership on which TAROM has completed, over the years, with everything that means perseverance and performance", said Costin Iordache, general director of TAROM.

The TAROM company has traditionally carried the Romanian Olympians to the previous Olympics and proposes that this year it will lead the Romanian Olympic team with the aircraft Nadia Comăneci to the Olympic Games in Paris, which will take place between July 26 and August 11, 2024.

Today also marks a first, the first aircraft in the TAROM fleet to be named after an athlete. The sports giant granted the Romanian state the right to use its name for the Romanian transport industry free of charge. The aircraft "Nadia Comăneci" will continue to serve the customers of the TAROM company, under the name of one of the most beloved Romanian sportswomen of all time.
