Brașov Airport will, as announced, have extended operating hours to 16 p.m. from January 15. The administration of the Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport is preparing for the transition to a 16-hour schedule, between 07.00-23.00, starting on January 15, as promised, it announces newsbv.ro.

What are the reservations regarding this step, considering that at the moment only one airline operates in Brașov, the president of the Brașov County Council, Șerban Todorică, explained to radiobrasovfm.ro:

"From January 15, the program will be extended. There are documents for this, there are people ready and people waiting to work. Now, of course, the question is economic. We are sitting at the table and discussing, given that you have no air traffic, given that it is winter, given that other operators will probably start flying to Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport only from April. What are we doing? Do we increase the schedule, sit in the airport doing nothing or make responsible decisions based on the efficient spending of public money?", said the President CJ Brașov.

Şerban Todorică claims that there are still airlines interested in operating flights from Brașov in the immediate future. "There are at least two airlines interested, with whom we are in discussions, we are in negotiations and yes, we are convinced that in 2024 we will have 300.000 passengers at Brașov Ghimbav International Airport", added Şerban Todorică.

After the departure of the Dan Air company to Bacău, in November, only Wizz Air has scheduled flights departing from Brașov, to London and Dortmund and back, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
