The busiest routes in 2023 are based on analysis of data from January to December 2023, provided by OAG's Global Airline Schedules Data. Discover the busiest international and domestic flight routes around the world, compared to 2019 and 2022. In addition, we have included data on the largest aviation markets, China and the US, providing information on the busiest domestic air routes in these regions.

The busiest routes in 2023 – international flights

  •  The busiest international air route in 2023 is Kuala Lumpur (KUL) – Singapore Changi (SIN) cu 4,9 million seats .
  •  Cairo (CAI) – Jeddah (JED) is in second place, with 4,8 million seats , with only a 2% capacity difference between first and second place.
  •  Hong Kong (HKG) – Taipei (TPE) it is the third busiest international route as of 2023, with 4,6 million seats. This was the busiest route of 2019 and capacity has fallen by 43% since then.
  •  Seoul Incheon (ICN) – Osaka Kansai (KIX) is the fourth busiest international route in 2023, with 4,2 million seats .
  • Half of the routes in the top 10 busiest international routes were not in the top 10 in 2019, they are:
    •  Cairo (CAI) – Jeddah (JED), 2nd place
