The Infotraffic Center of the Romanian Police announced on Thursday that there will be a speed restriction of 13.00 kilometers per hour on the Brăila bridge - which will be open to traffic from 80 p.m.

At night, between 21.00:06.00 p.m. and 30.11.2023:XNUMX a.m., from Monday to Friday, traffic on the Brăila bridge will be suspended. On weekends and public holidays (even if they are days of the week), road traffic will be open, Infotrafic states. These measures apply until XNUMX.

Brăila Bridge, the third largest suspension bridge in EU countries / No toll for the first 5 years

Brăila Bridge is a suspension bridge almost 2 kilometers long – the third longest suspension bridge in EU countries and which has been compared to the much more famous bridge "Golden Gate” from San Francisco – an investment of almost 700 million euros, probably the most complex of all the works carried out by the Romanian Road Company.

Although the opening of the traffic takes place on Thursday, all the works are not yet completed. The bridge is exclusively for road traffic, and pedestrians and cyclists do not have access to the bridge. The bridge is designed to have a lifespan of 120 years, and no toll will be paid for the first 5 years.

"It is expected that by opening this bridge, travel time to be reduced by approximately 50 minutes and be served daily approximately 11 400 vehicles physical. This will bring great benefits to labor mobility, tourism and trade and strengthen the region's links with the rest of the country.", transmits the European Commission.
