Uganda Airlines, Uganda's national airline, has returned to flying after a 20-year hiatus. The company started its activity on Tuesday, August 27, the first flight being operated on the route Entebbe - Nairobi.
Currently, the Uganda Airlines fleet consists of 2 Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft. For starters, Uganda Airlines will fly to destinations near Uganda, including Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania, Mogadishu in Somalia and Juba in South Sudan.
From September, Uganda Airlines will also fly to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Ghana, South Africa.
Uganda Airlines has started flying
The history of Uganda Airlines begins in 1977, the year of its establishment at the dictation of the dictator Idi Amin. In 2001, amidst an economic crisis, the company has completely ceased its activity.
After approximately 20 years, officials in Uganda resurrected the national airline in order to contribute to the growth of tourism in the country. Uganda has become an attractive country for many tourists from all over the world, being attracted by national parks, beaches, fauna and flora specific to the area.
