A Boeing 737-400F West Atlantic (operated by Swiftair) ran off the runway at Montpellier

On September 24, Boeing 737-400F cargo aircraft, registered EC-NLS and operated by Swiftair, operated domestic cargo flight SWN5745 en route from Paris to Montpellier, France. During landing at Montpellier, the aircraft overshot runway 12L. The aircraft came to rest on the shore of a nearby lake.

The three occupants of the aircraft escaped unharmed, being quickly rescued by the intervention teams. Instead the aircraft suffered some major damage and was stuck at the end of the runway.

About 60 firefighters arrived on the scene, while a specialized team will move the aircraft. The airport remained closed until further instructions. The French Air Safety Office (BEA) has launched an investigation into the accident.
