Update: The Romanian National Air Transport Company - TAROM operates flights to London in 2024, with the same daily frequency and the same schedule as in the previous year (2023).

The Bucharest-London route is open, and the flight slots belong to the company.

On February 5, 2024, following the data taken by the press from the MO, namely the publication of an approval of TAROM's AGM from July 2023 that mandated the general manager to negotiate and sign with an existing bidder at that time the company's LHR slots, it appeared in the public space an information that is no longer current and does not produce its effects.

Although several measures leading to the company's viability are approved in the company's Restructuring Plan, including those that provide for the optimal withdrawal from the operation of some slots, these measures are put into practice only in the context in which they serve the company's interests and the objective of making the activities profitable.

From the summer of 2023 until now, following the offers received and the negotiations carried out, the company has not found an optimal solution leading to the abandonment of the LHR slots (from Heathrow airport) and operates the destination London, with the same frequency and the same schedule .

Initial story: TAROM abandons the route to London, starting this summer. Although the abandonment and sale of slots (take-off/landing authorization on specific days and times - no. ) at London's Heathrow Airport have been rumored in recent years, no official information it has not yet come from the company. TAROM has sold the pair of daily slots at London Heathrow to Virgin Atlantic airline.

"Considering that the restructuring plan of the TAROM Company, proposed by the Board of Directors and approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders, provides closure of the Bucharest - London route, approves the award of the contract of sale of slots LHR (London Heathrow Airport - no.) to tenderer Virgin Atlantic for £22 million, starting from the summer 2024 and winter 2024 (according to the Restructuring Plan approved by the AGM decision of 07.12.2022 and communicated to the European Commission)", it is stated in the decision of the shareholders, recently published in the Official Gazette, it is announced Economica.net.

We remind you that TAROM also gave up flights to Barcelona, Vienna or Munich, and from the summer of 2024 it will also give up flights to London, the main hubs in Europe. Unfortunately, TAROM's track record in terms of routes leaves much to be desired.
