Since 2001, Rome has donated the money raised from the Trevi Fountain to a Catholic charity called Caritas. Thanks to these funds, the organization helped the poor and homeless in the Italian capital through social assistance programs such as hot meals and shelters. Money raised from the Trevi Fountain currently accounts for around 15% of the charity's annual budget.
