Wildfires in Rhodes: thousands of tourists were evacuated from their hotels!

Thousands of people have been evacuated from homes and hotels in the southern part of the island of Rhodes, after wildfires engulfed large parts of the island, reports rad.

More than 3.500 people were evacuated to safety by land and sea. Another 1.200 will be evacuated from three localities – Pefki, Lindos and Kalathos. No injuries were reported, according to Greece's Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection. In total, we are talking about the evacuation of over 19.000 people.

Among the evacuees are also Romanian tourists, and from our information we learned that they will be relocated to the northern area of ​​the island of Rhodes, which is not currently affected by these wildfires. Travel agencies keep in touch with their tourists and surely solutions will be found for them to be safe and enjoy their vacations.

At the moment, the situation of Romanians on vacation in Rhodes Island is under control through the travel agencies. There are no signs that flights will be canceled or holidays affected.
