A surprise move that Wizz Air makes on domestic flights in Romania. Starting with October 27, 2018, the route Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca no longer appears in the reservation system. A seemingly profitable route, it seems that it does not live up to the expectations of the low-cost operator.

The route was inaugurated on 22 July 2016, being a serious competitor for TAROM and Blue Air. Wizz Air started with 6 weekly flights, then increasing to 10 weekly flights after the October 31 2016 date.

Wizz Air withdraws from the route Bucharest - Cluj

Currently, until 26 October 2018, Wizz Air flies by 6 weekly flights between Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. The rates are very good, starting from 39 lei / segment. Soon we will publish the reason for the withdrawal from this route.

Wizz Air official statement: “As a normal practice in the aviation industry, the flight frequencies change depending on the season and the performance of the routes. Wizz Air constantly monitors the performance of its routes to allow the most popular services to have the lowest prices possible.

The flight Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca will be interrupted after October 26, because it did not work according to our expectations and, therefore, the Wizz Air network in Romania must be optimized. Additional capacity will be allocated to other routes in the next period.

Passengers affected by this decision will be informed and given the possibility of free reprogramming on alternative Wizz flights, full refund of tickets paid or 120% credit from the original reservation in the WIzz account. ”
