Did you know that April 26 was World Pilot Day only in 2014? And this only after the Turkish Association of Airline Pilots shared the vision of the international community. The chosen date was not a coincidence either, as April 26 marks the first flight of the aviator Fesa Evrensev, who was the first pilot of Turkey.

The first General Manager of Turkish Airlines, Fesan Evrensev, was born in 1878 in Istanbul. After high school in Galatasaray, Evrensev entered the Military Academy and graduated from there as a Cavalry Lieutenant.

Passing the pilot exam, being the best student in her class, Fesa Evrensev made the first flight on April 26, 1912 as the first pilot of Turkey. He was later appointed Director General of the State Administration, known today as Turkish Airlines. Holding various positions in the Turkish Aeronautical Association throughout her career, Fesa Evrensev has engraved her name in the history of Turkish and international aviation.
