Passengers who present a complete vaccination certificate, proof of recovery or a negative test result will be allowed to enter Belgium, being exempted from the additional testing requirements.

The measure was approved at the Interministerial Conference on Health, at which a new travel regulation was introduced.

As of today, February 18, both residents and international travelers who present one of the above-mentioned certificates are no longer required to be tested on the first or seventh day, as they previously did. In addition, the quarantine requirement has expired.

Furthermore, Belgian residents who are unable to present a vaccination, recovery or test certificate and who come from epidemiologically unsafe countries must undergo a rapid antigen or PCR test within 24 hours of arrival. This rule applies to dark red countries in the European Union and third countries outside the EU whitelist.

"The color code of the country of origin is no longer taken into account for incoming travelers. Persons who do not have their main residence in Belgium and who travel to our country from EU / Schengen or third countries must now hold a valid vaccination, testing or recovery certificate. ' stated the Belgian official intelligence authority on the situation of COVID-19.

In accordance with Council Recommendation (EU) 2022/107 and taking into account the evolution of the global spread of omicron, the Belgian authorities have decided on the following measures:

  • The vaccination certificate is valid for 270 days in the case of a vaccination with the basic scheme and in the case of the booster has an unlimited validity.
  • The test certificate will be valid for 24 hours for a rapid antigen test (RAT - only EU approved will be accepted) and 72 hours for PCR tests.
