AirAsia Thailand returns to flight on May 1 with strict security and social distance measures

As I told you the other day, AirAsia wants to resume domestic flights in each country where it has a subsidiary. AirAsia, one of the largest airlines in Malaysia and with many other subsidiaries in neighboring countries, plans to resume domestic flights from April 29.

Branches in Thailand and the Philippines will do so from 1 May. While the Indian subsidiary intends to resume domestic operations from 4 May 2020. AirAsia Indonesia will be the last to resume domestic operations from 7 May 2020.

An official statement issued by AirAsia confirms that AirAsia Thailand will return to flight on May 1. But with a series of strict measures of security and social distancing.

Strict social safety and distancing measures include: checking boarding and disembarking temperatures; maintaining free space between passengers; wearing a mask during the flight, but also at check-in and boarding; suspension of the on-board catering service.

Only a handpiece, such as a laptop bag or purse, will be allowed on board up to 5 kilograms. It must not exceed the size of 40 cm (H) x 30 cm (L) X 10 cm (D).

AirAsia will disinfect all aircraft and buses on a daily basis to ensure the highest level of safety for passengers and employees. All AirAsia aircraft are equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters, which protect against 99,999% of particles and impurities in the air, such as viruses and bacteria.

AirAsia Thailand CEO Santisuk Klongchaiya noted that after closely monitoring the pandemic situation and easing travel conditions, AirAsia decided to resume domestic operations as of May 1, 2020.

The decision was made after consultation with the Thai civil aviation authorities. Routes to be resumed: from Don Mueang to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Panom, Roi Et, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Hat Yai, Surat Thani, as well as the connection between Chiang Mai and Hat Yai.
