Armavia, the largest air carrier in Armenia, it ceased operations on 29 March 2013, just 17 years after its inception. It had the main hub at Zvartnots airport near Yerevan.

Armavia airline was established in 1996, but commercial flights to Russia and Turkey started operations only from 2001. During the 17 years of activity, Armavia took over several flights from Armenian Airlines, the national airline of Armenia, which ceased operations in 2003, but also from Armenian International Airways. It has operated flights to several destinations in Europe and Asia, but especially to Russia.

In 2010, the Armenian airline transported approximately 800 000 passengers. He owned a fleet of 11 aircraft and served 20 destinations. Armavia was the first carrier to use the aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 (MSN: 97007, code: EK-95015, name Yuri Gagarin) on commercial flights between Yerevan and Moscow, but for a short time.

Bankruptcy and termination of business come after 2 years of major losses.
