Bamboo Airways has opened a new non-stop route linking Vietnam and the United Kingdom, while the carrier continues to advance its long-distance expansion plans.

Flights between New Hanoi International Airport (HAN) and London Heathrow (LHR) will initially operate twice a week using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

This is the second European route to which Bamboo Airways flies, after the one launched in February: Hanoi - Frankfurt. The Vietnamese airline is studying the market to introduce the Ho Chi Minh City - Frankfurt route, but is also targeting destinations such as Berlin or Munich.

Ross Baker, CCO London Heathrow, said the new Bamboo Airways link to London will help British companies increase their access to the Vietnamese market, while also offering more leisure options.

Bamboo Airways is entering the London market a few days after Vietnam has begun to receive international tourists after two years of travel bans. As of March 15, fully vaccinated travelers are allowed to enter as long as they meet Vietnam's COVID-19 testing requirements.
