Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) has launched the tender for the design, technical assistance and execution of works for the modernization of the existing terminals and buildings at Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest.

The project has a total estimated value of 117.6 million lei and will run for a period of 101 months, of which 9 months for design, 30 months for the execution of the works and 2 months for reception, the warranty period being 5 years from the date reception of works.

The project aims at four objectives necessary for the modernization of the airport:

  • Interior remodeling of the Arrivals and Departures Terminals, to create an integrated and representative imaging framework for Romania's most important airport. By implementing technical solutions, the accessibility of buildings will be facilitated, the imaging quality of public areas will be improved and the cultural, heritage and touristic elements of Bucharest will be capitalized.
  • The modernization of the centralized ventilation-air conditioning system in the International Departures, Finger and Arrivals Terminals, with the objective of thermal comfort for passengers (22±1°C in the winter season, 24±1°C in the summer season, with relative humidity in the range of 30 % – 60|%). The project provides for the complete replacement of: ventilation and air conditioning equipment, air tartar units, fans, fan coils, heating agent distribution pipes, cooling aggregates serving the Arrivals terminal area and ventilation piping. Also, the cooling capacity will increase by supplementing the HVAC (Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning) system. The investment aims to replace the equipment management server (hardware and software) and create a modern command, automatic control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • A new fire detection-signaling system related to the Departures Terminal, Finger, Arrivals Terminal, Logistic Corp, AB Corp 4 buildings. To ensure the fire safety criteria, a new detection, signaling and warning system will be designed and executed at fire.
  • Modernization of the electrical installations related to the Departures, Finger and Arrivals Terminal buildings. The project provides for the modernization of the lighting of the terminals and building bodies (public areas, security areas, etc.), with LED lighting fixtures to be installed, which will also lead to the reduction of electricity consumption. Also, power plants and sockets with a higher degree of protection will be installed. Panic security lighting will be provided for all public areas.

The design of the entire investment objective must create an execution schedule with the phasing of the works, so that passenger flows are not blocked and the proper functioning of the Terminals is ensured, with the execution of the works mainly during the night.

The award criterion is the best quality/price ratio, which includes the price of the offer (weight 60%), architect with signature right granted by the Romanian Order of Architects (10%), electrical installation engineer authorized ANRE gr IIA (5%), installation engineer (5%), project manager with proven experience in managing works execution projects in public spaces such as airport terminals and/or train stations and/or shopping centers (10%), engineer specialized in installation, configuration, programming and commissioning operation of ventilation-air-conditioning installations with installed refrigerating power of min. 2MW (10%).

Bidders must prove experience in the last 5 years in the design and execution of civil construction works that have involved interior fittings, electrical installations, fire detection and air conditioning installations in public spaces such as airport terminals and/or train stations and/or shopping centers .
