As I announced to you, in Bulgaria a partial lockdown will apply. Some restrictive measures will be applied internally. However, the measures regarding entry and transit through Bulgaria will not be affected. The Romanian Embassy in Bulgaria makes some clarifications.

According to the Order of the Bulgarian Minister of Health no. RD-01-680 of November 27, 2020, in force since December 1, 2020 and which provides for measures applicable until January 31, 2021: Romanian citizens MUST NOT SUBMIT A NEGATIVE PCR TEST under the following conditions:

  • have the starting point of the trip to Romania or another EU Member State;
  • have their starting point of travel in the following countries: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, States Parties to the Schengen Agreement (including the Republic of San Marino, the Principality of Andorra, the Principality of Monaco, the Vatican), Serbia, Turkey, Belarus, Australia, Canada, Georgia , Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of Tunisia, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates;
  • transits the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria (regardless of destination).

YOU MUST SUBMIT A NEGATIVE PCR TEST, made no later than 72 hours before entering the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, Romanian citizens who have the starting point of travel to a state other than those mentioned above (not for those who only transit Bulgaria).

Ex. If you are a Romanian citizen and traveling from Argentina to Bulgaria, you must present a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test.

It is NO longer necessary to complete a declaration on your own responsibility upon entering Bulgaria, regardless of the purpose of the trip (transit, tourism, staff or business).
