From April 2016, Austrian Airlines will fly to a new destination in China. See who this will be!

Starting with 4 April 2016, Austrian Airlines will open a new route to Asia. It will expand its activity to China by operating a 5 weekly flights to Shanghai, the second destination after Beijing. Starting with 1 May 2016, the Austrian operator will fly daily on route from Vienna to Shanghai.

The flight duration will be approximately 10 hours and 20 minutes, and the distance is approximately 8500 Kilometers. The tickets have been introduced in the system, and the prices start from 594 Euro for round trip flights, taxes included. Austrian Airlines will honor Boeing 777-200ER flights after the following schedule:

OS075 VIE 13:20 - 05: 40 + 1 PVG 772 From April 4, 2016, on the days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday; From May 1 - daily

With the launch of these flights, Lufthansa Group (which is also part of Austrian Airlines) will provide flights to Shanghai from its 4 main hubs: Vienna, Zurich, Frankfurt and Munich. According to official information, starting with 1 May 2016, Lufthansa Group airlines will operate 35 weekly flights to Shanghai. This is the 6 destination served by the 4 main hubs of the Lufthansa Group, after: New York JFK, Newark, Chicago, Beijing and Delhi.

During the 2016 summer season, Austrian Airlines will operate more and more flights to Asia. In addition to Shanghai (7 weekly flights from 1 to 2016) and Beijing (5 weekly flights), Austrian will fly to Delhi (7 weekly flights), Bangkok and Tokyo (daily flights). From 27 October to 2015, Austrian Airlines will inaugurate the Vienna - Colombo, Sri Lanka route (1 weekly flight).

Flashback: Austrian Airlines also flew to Shanghai from April 28, 2004 to January 2007. At that time, Austrian gave up the route because it resized its fleet of long-haul aircraft, eliminating Airbus A330 and Airbus A340 aircraft.
