After launching the route Perth - London with Qantas, more and more air carriers are planning to launch direct flights between Australia and Europe.

On September 18, İlker Aycı (Chairman of the board - Turkish Airlines) announced the Istanbul - Sydney route. It would be inaugurated in the 2019 summer season and would be the first direct route between Europe and Sydney.

Flights could be honored with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the same type of aircraft used by Qantas on the Perth - London route.

Istanbul - Sydney with Turkish Airlines

The new Istanbul - Sydney route would be very beneficial for those who want to travel much faster between Europe and the East Coast of Australia. Thus, the travel time would be reduced to a few hours of flight, without stops through the connecting cities in Asia.

In 2019, Turkish Airlines would receive the new Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Both aircraft have a range of up to 15 kilometers, enough to cover the new Istanbul-Sydney route.

An exciting 2019 year is coming for commercial aviation. Longer routes will be launched, and aircraft manufacturers are looking to develop more and more efficient models. It is not excluded to see a supersonic passenger plane in the sky.
