Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have responded to the growing demand for the 21 summer holidays at Manchester Airport, adding more flights to the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.

The increase in capacity means that thousands of additional seats have been put up for sale to 12 destinations - Tenerife, Lanzarote, Malaga, Faro, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Corfu, Skiathos, Kos, Halkidiki and Paphos - in direct response to holiday demand in countries and destinations that have said they will welcome tourists from the UK this summer.

Jet2 recorded a 1.000% increase in bookings

The company recorded a 1.000% increase in bookings immediately after the prime minister's announcement of a plan to exit the lockdown, with demand continuing today. After a blocked and uncertain 2020, the British want to travel.

In addition, data from Jet2holidays show that bookings have increased in response to destinations preparing to receive tourists from the UK. This includes bookings to Cyprus, which have risen by 200% in last week's announcement by Cyprus' deputy tourism minister, saying UK tourists who have been vaccinated will be able to travel to Cyprus this summer.

There has also been an increase in bookings in Greece, after the Greek tourism minister said visitors are welcome if they have been vaccinated, have antibodies or are tested negative for coronavirus. Ministers from other destinations, including Turkey, Spain and Portugal, also spoke about the reopening of the tourist season this summer.
