According to the new decree adopted by the Italian Government, between December 4, 2020 - January 15, 2021 shall apply new measures on entry into Italy persons who were in or transited Romania in the 14 days prior to entering Italian territory.

Recommendations from the MFA for Romanian citizens

Persons who have been on or transited the territory of Romania in the last 14 days prior to arrival in Italy are subject to the following measures:

a) the obligation to present to the carrier at the time of embarkation or to any person designated to carry out the checks, the certificate confirming the performance, in the 48 hours prior to entry into Italian territory, a buffer-type molecular diagnostic or antigen capture test.

In case of failure to present the aforementioned test, self-isolation is required for 14 days. As the Italian authorities have not yet established a format / model of the certificate attesting the test result for SARS-CoV-2 infection, the MFA recommends that the document be written in Italian or English.

By presenting the negative test for SARS-CoV-2 infection, you will no longer be isolated in Italy. The measure applies between 4-20 December and 7-15 January.

b) as an exception to point (a), for the period 21.12.2020 - 06.01.2020, it is still necessary to self-isolate for 14 days in the case of persons traveling from Romania to Italy.

During the mentioned period (December 21, 2020 - January 6, 2021) it is not necessary to present a molecular diagnostic or antigen capture test, of buffer type, with a negative result for SARS-CoV-2 infection.
