Renfe (Spain) has opened the online registration system for train tickets and free passes!

Renfe Spain, a kind of CFR of Romania but much more evolved, opened on Monday, August 8, on the website and in the application, the registration for subscriptions and free train tickets that can be used on Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia trains and subscriptions with 50% discount for Avant.

The goal is to get users to register early enough to apply train tickets and free passes on trains in Spain, starting from August 24 and throughout the period between September 1 and December 31.

Since Monday, an area with all the necessary information to be able to request and use recurring subscriptions has been active on the Renfe website. It is useful information for commuters who travel frequently by train in Spain.

Cercanías and Rodalies are the local and regional trains for which the Spanish government announced free train tickets this autumn. Those who wish to purchase tickets for these trains must pay a deposit of 10 EURO. If, during the four months in which these subscriptions will be free, the user has made more than 16 journeys (four per month) with the subscription, Renfe will return the deposit using the same payment method used for the purchase.

For Media Distancia trains, the regulation is the same only that the deposit for subscriptions will be 20 EURO, which will be returned if more than 16 trips are made on a single route.

Also, new subscriptions will be created for high-speed services Avant, with similar conditions for the territorial rebalancing of travel conditions of recurring users. In this sense, there will be subscriptions with a 50% discount on high-speed routes where there are no public service obligations and the travel time does not exceed 100 minutes. The lines that will have these new subscriptions are Madrid-Palencia, Madrid-Zamora, León-Valladolid, Burgos-Madrid, León-Palencia, Burgos-Valladolid, Ourense-Zamora, Palencia-Valladolid, Huesca-Zaragoza, León-Segovia, Segovia. -Zamora, Palencia-Segovia, Medina del Campo-Zamora.

These bonuses are part of the package of measures approved by the Government to promote energy saving, which also includes limiting the temperature in public buildings. The Ministry of Finance detailed that it will transfer 210 million euros to Renfe to pay for these measures.
