Despite the price increases announced by all operators in the tourism industry, Romanians want to fully enjoy the summer season, as evidenced by the growing number of reservations for the summer months.

And in the context in which hotels, boarding houses and other accommodation units will be crowded in the next period, the online hotel platform Travelminit.ro has conducted an extensive survey * for tourists and hoteliers, and its results set clear directions for expectations this season .

"Although we are in the middle of the summer season, we still have availability for accommodation from all over Romania, including the seaside, the most sought after summer destination. The moment also coincides with the granting of holiday vouchers for 2022, a measure that will help their beneficiaries enjoy stays at affordable prices. It is also worth mentioning that those who still have unused vouchers from 2019 and 2020 can use them until the end of June to pay in full or an advance on their stay in the country. At the same time, Travelminit.ro started the summer season with numerous campaigns and promotions, so we expect a full summer and an increased number of reservations ", says Rita Szilveszter, online marketing expert Travelminit.ro.

79% of tourists take into account the price when choosing accommodation in Romania

According to the survey conducted by Travelminit.ro, when it comes to choosing an accommodation unit for holidays, tourists take into account the following factors: price (voted by 79% of respondents), the level of cleanliness (also chosen by 78% of respondents) and room facilities (for which 53% of respondents voted). Among the criteria that influence their decision to choose a hotel or a guesthouse are also: hotel facilities, location, staff, restaurant and parking space.

As for the facilities they want to find in the room they have booked, the balcony (79% of votes), towels (78% of votes), air conditioning (77% of votes) and hotel cosmetics (62% of the votes) are in the top of the tourists' favorites. Among the facilities they appreciate are the bathrobe and slippers, the kettle, the refrigerator, the hairdryer, the TV and the iron. These details often make a difference in the eyes of tourists, being facilities in which hoteliers can invest to attract more customers, but also to make their pricing strategy.

Also, 48% of respondents say they never leave a tip in the room for cleaning staff, while 40% of them said they leave depending on how satisfied they were with the services. At the same time, 73% of the tourists participating in the survey never received a better room for free at the booked accommodation unit. Depending on availability, especially during the off-season, tourists can request a room upgrade, a practice not very common in Romania, but which could contribute to long-term customer loyalty.
