Wizz Air gives up 20 routes from the Vienna base

Wizz Air has given up 20 routes from its base in Vienna. Almost all of the 20 routes have been removed from the booking system, while the rest will be removed by March 26, 2022. Many of the suspended routes are to destinations in Western Europe, an area that ULCC has really focused on. lately.

Among the 20 routes suspended from the base in Vienna, we find those in Ukraine, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya, but also Suceava in Romania. In their case, the decision is clear and is influenced by the war in Ukraine.

  • Athens (ATH): can be booked until March 25
  • Alicante (ALC): already removed from sale
  • Eindhoven (A): already removed from sale
  • Heraklion (HER) : already put up for sale (but nearby Chania remains)
  • Kharkiv (HRK): already removed from sale
  • Lisbon (LIS): can be booked until March 25
  • Málaga (AGP): can be booked until March 26
  • Malta (MLA): already removed from sale
  • Marrakesh (RAK): already removed from sale
  • Milan Malpensa (MXP): can be booked until March 25
  • Mykonos (JMK): already removed from sale
  • Olbia (OLB): already removed from sale
  • Palma (PMI): can be booked until March 25
  • Porto (OPO): already removed from sale
  • Rhodes (RHO): already removed from sale
  • Santorini (JTR): already removed from sale
  • Suceava (SCV): already removed from sale
  • Thessaloniki (SKG): already removed from sale
  • Zaporizhzhia (OZH): already removed from sale

It is possible that some routes will return in the winter season 2023, although there are still no indications of what will happen to the Wizz Air base in Vienna.
